New Insidious movie set to scare audiences in summer 2025

May 17, 2024 by Matt Rodgers

Prepare for another terrifying trip to the Further, with the news that Sony Pictures and Blumhouse Productions has announced a new installment of the Insidious horror franchise is coming next year.

You don’t have to be a Lin Shaye-level clairvoyant to have seen this coming following the box-office performance of 2023’s Insidious: The Red Door.

Directed by franchise star Patrick Wilson, working with a reported production budget of $16 million, the fifth entry in the Insidious series became one of the most profitable movies of the year when it grossed $189 million at the worldwide box-office.

Prior to The Red Door‘s release, Blumhouse head-honcho Jason Blum teased that we wouldn’t be seeing a sixth installment for a long, long time, but with figures like that it’s little surprise that they’ve already set a release date of August 29, 2025 for Insidious 6.

At this early stage there are no details on returning cast or plot, but reports make it clear that this isn’t anything to do with the Kumail Nanjiani and Mandy Moore-headlined spin-off movie Thread: An Insidious Tale.

Let us know whether you’re looking forward to heading back into The Further, or if you’d rather Blumhouse had closed the door on the Insidious franchise for good, by heading to our social channels @FlickeringMyth…
