New look at Amber Heard in Aquaman, Karl Urban for Dredd series, X-Men in the MCU and more – Daily News Roundup

May 19, 2017 by admin

MERA IMAGE

With Aquaman now officially in production, director James Wan has shared a new image of Amber Heard as Mera, sporting a different costume to the one she’s wearing in Zack Snyder’s Justice League. Check out the image here.

I KNOW HIM!

LEGO has officially unveiled images for its two upcoming Marvel Super Heroes Thor: Ragnarok sets: The Ultimate Battle of Asgard (complete with Thor, Bruce Banner, Hela, Valkyrie, and two Berserker minifigures), and Thor Vs. Hulk Arena Crash (which contains minifigures for Hulk, Thor, Loki, a Sakaarian Guard, and The Grandmaster). Take a look at the promotional images here.

MEGA CITY URBAN?

Since the announcement of a new series based on 2000AD’s Judge Dredd, many fans have been wondering if it will have any connections to the 2012 Dredd that never got its deserved sequel. Well, according to the series producer, we could see Karl Ubran put on the iconic helmet once more. “We have had many conversations prior to this, about all sorts of things,” said Brian Jenkins. “He’s also very busy, a full-time professional actor. So we’re going to have some long and complicated conversations I would imagine, and we’ll see where we go. It’s too early to tell yet, but if we can use him and he’s available to us, then I think that would be absolutely brilliant. There’s always a possibility he will be busy, or that his schedule for other movies won’t allow. Basically, we don’t know at this stage.” Read more here.

UNIVERSAL PROMOS

With Licence Global currently going on, we can expect to see some promotional artwork for upcoming movies in the next few days. First up is Universal’s slate, with artwork for Jurassic World 2/Jurassic Park 5, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Peter Rabbit, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, Slenderman and Goosebumps: Horrorland. Check them out here.

IT’S ALL CONNECTED

Due to Marvel selling off a lot of their properties in the 1990s to film studios, Marvel Studios don’t have the entire catalogue of superheroes under their wing, most notably Spider-Man at Sony (though they have a deal with them) and the Fantastic Four and X-Men at 20th Century Fox. Fans have been dreaming about the X-Men tussling with The Avengers on the big screen, and Marvel head honcho Kevin Feige shares that vision. “My goal is to replicate the experience that, you know, comic book fans have reading the books up on the screen and we’ve been able to accomplish that beyond my wildest dreams over the last ten years,” he said. “Spidey in Civil War and in the upcoming Infinity War is yet another dream that I didn’t even dare to talk about publicly because I thought the odds of it were very slim. So, no plans beyond that right now for any of the few remaining characters that aren’t already in the MCU, but I always say ‘never say never,’ who knows what can happen in the future?” Read more here.

THE MUMMY BOMB?

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Tom Cruise’s The Mummy is looking to make around $40 million at the domestic box office. While it’s a solid enough opening, it’s probably not what Universal were hoping for this first step in their Monster’s Universe. Read more here.
