VR developer Played With Fire and Broken Mirror Games have unveiled Star Trek: Infection, an intense full-body VR set in the beloved Star Trek universe, coming to Meta Quest 3 and Steam VR later this year. Watch the new trailer below….
With Star Trek: Infection, step into a psychological and physical nightmare as a Vulcan Starfleet officer sent on a covert mission aboard the U.S.S. Lumen. Once aboard the Federation ship, players will find that the crew is missing, but something sentient and sinister remains, it has infected everything and now it has infected the player.
Players will find their body physically changing, new abilities developing, but at the cost of changes in their normally composed Vulcan mind. Players will need to learn to control the mutations, explore the ship, confront this sinister presence and either embrace or fight the infection.
Featuring:
- A full-body avatar to keep an eye on and look after. Choose whether to treat the mutations or encourage their development.
- Endure psychological torment from the Presence. Face traumatic memories buried long ago and shadows that move with a will of their own.
- Use the tricorder to scan for dangers, the trusty phaser or go stealthy and use the Vulcan nerve pinch to silently take down enemies.
- Use VR hands to interact with the vessel’s tools and workstations to physically craft items and gadgets.
Star Trek: Infection is currently in development for the Meta Quest 3 + 3S and Steam VR, with a release date scheduled later this year.
