Nightcrawler director Dan Gilroy reveals details on his next film, due for release at Halloween

November 22, 2017 by Jordan Jones

Dan Gilroy’s Nightcrawler was an absolutely terrific film, and one that really solidified Jake Gyllenhaal as one Hollywood’s strongest actors. It’s exciting, then, to hear more information about Gilroy’s upcoming film that will be released via Netflix streaming next year. While we don’t have a name for the project yet, Gilroy recently gave Business Insider a good chunk of information regarding the film’s plot:

“It’s set in the world of contemporary art in Los Angeles. It’s got a Robert Altman-like large ensemble cast. It’s got a The Player vibe to it. There’s a large cast and we’re moving around from person to person as we move through this world. The story is being told through these different characters… It’s not a drama. It’s opening Halloween next year, that will give you some indication what kind of movie it is.”

Well, the obvious indication is that this is some kind of horror film. Given that Nightcrawler had some genuinely scary moments, it feels like horror is good genre for Dan Gilroy to play around in. Could this be some kind of anthology ala Trick r Treat? That almost seems like too much to ask for, but who knows? Maybe Gyllenhaal will be back too; if he isn’t suiting up as Batman for Matt Reeves, that is.

…You can find Jordan on Twitter, and Facebook.
