Nightwing director says script is almost complete, but don’t expect Dick Grayson casting news any time soon

February 11, 2018 by Gary Collinson

A couple of weeks ago The LEGO Batman Movie director Chris McKay told fans to expect an update on his live-action Nightwing movie around Valentine’s Day, and now the filmmaker has shared a few brief comments on Twitter to let us know where he’s at with the DC Extended Universe feature.

As we’ve learned from experience, Warner’s DC plans can and do change overnight, but it sounds like Nightwing remains part of the planned DCEU slate, and it’s good to know that McKay is being afforded enough time to ensure that the script is right before moving the project movies ahead. Still, judging by his comments, it’s going to be a while yet before we get any concrete information on Dick Grayson’s solo movie.

In terms of what we do know about the DCEU’s upcoming slate, the studio has Aquaman incoming in December, and production is now underway on Shazam!, which is slated to open in April 2019. Wonder Woman 2 is also due to hit in December 2019, while numerous reports have suggested that Suicide Squad 2 will also begin filming at some point this year.
