Nintendo gets your creative juices flowing with Nintendo Labo

January 18, 2018 by Andrew Newton

For the Nintendo Switch gamers out there, Nintendo will be releasing a rather peculiar yet interesting initiative which involves using cardboard to transform the Switch’s Joy Con controllers into a variety of useful accessories.  Nintendo Labo, as it has been called, will be available this April.  Check out the trailer below which provides a first look at this new kit…

With each Nintendo Labo kit players will receive a Nintendo Switch cartridge and a set of cardboard sheets.  The cartridge will provide a series of on screen instructions that will show each step of building the different kits known as Toy-Cons which will contain the controller.  With these kits players can build a 13-key piano to hold a recital, make a fishing rod, a house and even motorcycle handlebars and take part in a race.

Obviously there’s a huge educational aspect to Nintendo Labo that will really appeal to children but it’s something that will be enjoyed on a social level.  Friends and family will be able to use the creations and join in on games.

Nintendo Labo will be released on the 20th April and will be available as two kits; the Variety Kit will include the parts necessary to create the piano, fishing rod etc while a Robot Kit will include pieces with which to create your own robot suit.
