Nintendo reveal major amiibo details

October 7, 2014 by Tom Powter

Alongside the reveal of a release date for Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, Nintendo have also revealed a number of important details about amiibo, their upcoming figure range that will be compatible with a number of games.

The first wave of amiibo figures will arrive in different regions at different times, with the wave arriving in North America on the release date of Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, November 21st. Strangely, the amiibo arrive in Europe a week earlier than Smash Bros does, on November 28th. The first wave of figures is made of Mario, Link, Pikachu, Villager, Marth, Peach, Yoshi, Samus, Donkey Kong, Fox, Kirby and the Wii Fit Trainer.

The second wave of figures is expected to arrive in December and will include Little Mac, Diddy Kong, Zelda, Captain Falcon, Luigi and Pit. Along with the Smash Bros. games, amiibo will be compatible with Captain Toad’s Treasure Tracker, Mario Kart 8 and numerous other titles.
