Only 10% of Zack Snyder’s Justice League made it into the theatrical cut

December 14, 2019 by Gary Collinson

Despite being over two years out from the film’s release, there’s still intense interest in Zack Snyder’s original vision for Justice League, prior to Warner Bros. getting cold feet and bringing in Joss Whedon for an overhaul of the DC team-up movie.

Given what Snyder has previously revealed about his version of the movie, it’s clear that there’s some major differences between the theatrical cut and the ‘Snyder Cut’ – and according to cinematographer Fabian Wagner, they’re almost two entirely different films, with around 90% of Snyder’s footage ending up on the cutting room floor.

“A lot was changed,” said Wagner, who previously revealed that he cried “all of the way” through Whedon’s version. “I did principal photography for Zack. We finished shooting and he started editing. We did the color grading for the trailers. So the first three trailers were all things we shot. Then they started reshoots. I wasn’t there. It was a completely different team. They reshot 55 days, I think. The movie that was in cinemas was 10 percent of what we shot. Everything else is a reshoot.”

Despite complete radio silence from Warner Bros., fans haven’t given up hope that the studio will see fit to release The Snyder Cut, with the director himself recently urging fans not to lose hope that it will see the light of day at some point.
