Oscar Isaac calls X-Men: Apocalypse, “scary shit”

April 8, 2015 by Luke Owen

It’s going to be a big couple of years for Oscar Isaac. Ahead of him having a major part in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the actor is also set to feature as the titular Apocalypse in Bryan Singer’s X-Men: Apocalypse. The actor has been quite open when it comes to talking about the role (see here and here), and he’s been at it again.

“With X-Men, it’s about why this woman who invented Apocalypse, [writer] Louise Simonson, she was tasked with: make a new arch-villain,” he told Esquire in an interview. “She said, ‘OK, I’ll make the embodiment of the Second Coming with the Four Horseman and all.’ That’s scary shit. So I’m curious about that. What’s the philosophical expression behind the apocalypse? What apocalypse means, which comes from the Greek for ‘to reveal.’ To lift back the curtain.”

X-Men: Apocalypse is set for release on May 19th, 2016 and stars X-Men veterans James McAvoy (Professor X), Michael Fassbender (Magneto), Jennifer Lawrence (Mystique), Nicholas Hoult (Beast), Evan Peters (Quicksilver) and Rose Byrne (Moira MacTaggert) alongside Oscar Isaac (Star Wars: The Force Awakens) as Apocalypse, Sophie Turner (Game of Thrones) as Jean Grey, Tye Sheridan (Mud) as Cyclops, Alexandra Shipp (House of Anubis) as Storm, Kodi Smit-McPhee (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes) as Nightcrawler, Ben Hardy (EastEnders) as Angel and newcomer Lana Condor as Jubilee.
