Path of Fire expansion now available for Guild Wars 2

September 23, 2017 by Andrew Newton

Guild Wars publisher and developer, ArenaNet, have announced the release of Path of Fire, the second expansion for their MMORPG Guild Wars 2.  This latest expansion (which arrives just in time for the game’s 5th anniversary) introduces a new region to explore, mounts and new elite specialisations.  A new trailer showcasing the expansion has been released and can be viewed below…

Path of Fire introduces a vast new region for players to explore.  This new region will take players across desert plains, beautiful oases and through ancient ruins in a bid to stop the rogue god Balthazar from destroying Tyria in his hunt for Elder Dragons.

This latest expansion also allows players to own mounts.  These creatures are not just a means to travel from A to B, they are also companions and allies that help players to solve puzzles, approach battles and fully explore Tyria.  There are 4 mounts that can be unlocked and include:

  • The Raptor: Easy to train, hardy and intelligent creatures capable of crossing great distances in a single leap.
  • The Skimmer: These graceful mounts can hover for short distances, making them ideal for crossing large areas of treacherous quicksand or sulfur.
  • The Springer: True to their name, these mounts can make huge vertical leaps.
  • The Jackal: A magical creature that is formed of shifting sands and given shape by magical runes that can dissipate into sand to teleport short distances and dash through sand portals.

Nine new elite specialisations have been introduced, there is one for each profession and include: Weaver (Elementalist), Holosmith (Engineer), Firebrand (Guardian), Mirage (Mesmer), Scourge(Necromancer), Soulbeast (Ranger), Renegade (Revenant), Deadeye (Thief) and Spellbreaker (Warrior).

Finally, all those who purchase Guild Wars 2: Path of Fire will receive a max level Boost to instantly raise one character to level to 80 and also provide gear and gold.
