Patrick Dempsey officially in talks for Scream 7 return

Is Patrick Dempsey ready to fight Ghostface again?

After originating the role of Mark Kincaid in 2000’s Scream 3, it seems like Dempsey is back for another round. With confirmation Mark was still in the franchise during Scream 5, we’ll reportedly see him again for the seventh installment of the Scream franchise.

During an appearance on the Today show, Dempsey confirmed he’s in talks for Scream 7. Al Roker asked the actor if he was open to returning to the Scream franchise, to which the actor said, “I mean, you know, it’s always good to have a job.”

“I’m waiting on the script,” Dempsey said on the Today show. “There has been a conversation about it,” he added. “I haven’t seen anything yet. So, we’ll see what happens.” Check out the full interview below.

Kevin Williamson will direct the seventh installment, and Guy Busick will write the script. Neve Campbell and Courtney Cox will return to the franchise. Cox is now the longest-running member of the Scream cast, while Campbell stepped away for Scream 6.

Scream 7 is set to open on February 27, 2026.
