Paul Rudd confirmed as front-runner for Ant-Man role

November 25, 2013 by admin

Earlier today Flickering Myth co-editor Luke Owen got the chance to sit down and chat with The World’s End director Edgar Wright (you can listen to the interview in the latest Flickering Myth Podcast), but sadly any Ant-Man questions were off limits.

However, it seems the long-gestating superhero movie might finally be close to securing its lead, with The Hollywood Reporter claiming today that the previously rumoured Paul Rudd (Prince Avalanche, Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues) is the front runner for the role of the miniaturised Marvel hero Hank Pym.

Rudd was first mentioned as a potential candidate for Ant-Man way back in March, with the rumours picking up steam last month when it was reported that Rudd and Joseph Gordon-Levitt (The Dark Knight Rises, Don Jon) topped Marvel’s shortlist. It’s also been said that Rudd’s I Love You, Man co-star Rashida Jones is being eyed for Janet van Dyne, but THR’s post today states that “there is a push to find Pym’s 30-ish girlfriend.”

Ant-Man is set to kick-off Phase Three of Marvel’s Cinematic Universe when it arrives on July 31st, 2015.
