With filming now underway on Prime Video’s God of War series, Amazon has officially unveiled a first-look image from the live-action video game adaptation, which features Ryan Hurst (Sons of Anarchy) in the role of Kratos along with Callum Vinson (Chucky) as his young son Atreus.
Based on the hit PlayStation video game series – and more specifically the 2018 instalment and its sequel God of War Ragnarök – the series has been developed for television by Ronald D. Moore (Battlestar Galactica, For All Mankind), and follows “father and son Kratos and Atreus as they embark on a journey to spread the ashes of their wife and mother, Faye. Through their adventures, Kratos tries to teach his son to be a better god, while Atreus tries to teach his father how to be a better human.”
Along with Ryan Hurst and Callum Vinson, God of War will feature Max Parker as Heimdall, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson as Thor, Mandy Patinkin as Odin, Alastair Duncan as Mimir, Danny Woodburn and Jeff Gulka as as brothers Brok and Sindri, and Ed Skrein as Baldur.
God of War has received a two season order from Prime Video, and filming has got underway today in Vancouver, Canada, with production expected to run through to April 2027.
