Production on The Raid remake put on hold

May 29, 2014 by Gary Collinson

Good news for fans of Welsh filmmaker Gareth Evans’ hard-hitting martial arts epic The Raid – Variety is reporting that pre-production on Screen Gems’ remake of the Indonesian actioner has been halted, although the film is not being placed into turnaround and is still aiming for an early 2015 shoot.

The U.S. remake of The Raid is set to be directed by Patrick Hughes (Red Hill, The Expendables 3), while the likes of Luke Evans (The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug), Ethan Hawke (The Purge) and Captain America: The Winter Soldier duo Anthony Mackie and Frank Grillo are being courted for roles, while Chris and Liam Hemsworth have also been rumoured.

Have you got any interest in an American remake of The Raid, and if so, who would you like to see in the cast?
