Ready Player One recruits Game of Thrones actress Hannah John-Kamen

June 25, 2016 by Justin Cook

According to Deadline, actress Hannah John-Kamen has been recruited by director Steven Spielberg to join the cast of Ready Player One. While Warner Bros. has yet to officially revealed the role she’ll be playing, some have speculated that she could end up portraying the character of Helen Harris from Ernest Cline’s 2011 book on which the film is based.

John-Kamen appeared in two recent episodes of Game of Thrones as Ornela, a Dosh Khaleen member, and plays the lead role in SyFy’s series Killjoys. Her other acting credits include smaller parts in the first season of Happy Valley and Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

The casting announcement comes a month before production on the movie begins in London and a little less than two years ahead of its March 30th, 2018 release date.

John-Kamen will be surrounded by a hugely talented cast that includes Tye Sheridan (X-Men: Apocalypse), Olivia Cooke (Bates Motel), Ben Mendelsohn (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story), T.J. Miller (Deadpool), Simon Pegg (Star Trek Beyond), Win Morisaki and Spielberg favorite Mark Rylance, who won an Oscar for Bridge of Spies earlier this year and will be appearing in The BFG next month.

Zak Penn and Eric Eason adapted the film for the screen, and, as for the cherry on top, John Williams is set to reunite with Spielberg and provide the score.
