Release date announced for Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom

August 21, 2018 by Andrew Newton

FDG Entertainment has announced that their upcoming platforming action adventure Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom, based on the legendary Wonderboy in Monster World, will be arriving on Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and Playstation 4 on 6th November.  If you’re heading to Gamescom this year then be sure to check out the playable demo at the Nintendo Booth in Hall 9.1.

In Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom players will take the role of Jin, a young hero who sets out to save the Monster World Kingdom. On his journey Jin will face challenging enemies, discover hidden locations and upgrade his equipment to make it more powerful. Jin can even unlock new forms that he can change into which will open up new pathways to bosses and treasure.

The game will feature:

  • Six forms to change into, each with unique combat and platforming abilities.
  • New paths and secrets with special equipment that can be unlocked with magic weapons.
  • Over 15 hours of adventure.
  • Hand Drawn animations that bring the characters to life.
  • Well known Japanese composers provide the soundtrack including Yuzo Koshiro, Motoi Sakuraba, Michiru Yamane, Keiki Kobayashi and Takeshi Yanagawa.
  • Full HD graphics at 60 fps: the game supports 1080p/60fps in TV mode and 720p/60fps in Nintendo Switch handheld mode.

Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom has been created alongside Ryuichi Nishizawa, creator of the original Wonder Boy series, and has been greatly inspired by the classic game with its addictive gameplay, atmospheric music and entertaining adventure.
