Remake of classic NES game Shadow of the Ninja coming to PC and consoles in August

June 7, 2024 by Andrew Newton

Classic 1990’s side-scrolling action game Shadow of the Ninja is returning to gamers on 29th August as Shadow of the Ninja Reborn on PC and consoles. This remake of the classic will be available in physical editions for the PS5 and Nintendo Switch while Limited and Collector’s Editions can be pre-ordered at Strictly Limited Games.  Watch the new trailer below…..

In Shadow of the Ninja Reborn, a dystopian world is ruled over by the ruthless Emperor Garuda. The world is a shadow of what it once was, but from the darkness of the shadows come two new heroes to take down this tyrant and save the world.

Hayate and Kaede will come with an assortment of deadly weapons, including caltrops, swords and shurikens, and use these to fight their way through five stages recreated from the original and a special new sixth stage, all of which contain a variety of cunning traps and fiendish platform puzzles.

The visuals have had an upgrade from their 8-bit days and now sport an attractive 16-bit style that will whisk players back to those heady days when gaming was fresh and game development was an art.  In addition to the new graphics, the remake also features an epic soundtrack from Iku Mizutani and Hiroshi Iwatsuki.

Shadow of the Ninja Reborn launches on 29th August on PC and console, look out for the official playable demo coming soon.
