The next entry in the long-running survival horror franchise Resident Evil is here. Following on the heels of the Resident Evil 3 remake, the new game will take the series in a whole new direction once again. Resident Evil Village was first teased during Sony’s PlayStation 5 reveal event on Thursday, with a trailer that you can see here…

Resident Evil: Village will serve as a direct sequel to Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, the 2017 game that came as a soft reboot for the series. Like the previous entry, Resident Evil 8 will be played in first-person and will star Ethan Winters. Instead of a cabin in the woods, this setting appears to be a snow-covered forest haunted by what seems to be werewolves.
Joining the returning Ethan Winters is a series mainstay, Chris Redfield, who made a surprise cameo at the end RE7. Redfield seems to be a much darker character than before, so fans will look forward to seeing how we got to this point.
The reunited Mia and Ethan are living happily together and putting the horror shared at Baker’s plantation house behind them. Ethan’s world suddenly comes crashing down once again when Chris Redfield sets off a chain of events that sees a haunted and hurt Ethan track down Chris for answers to his shocking actions. Ethan ultimately finds Chris in a mysterious village, where another round of terror begins.
The next entry in the series will debut on the PlayStation 5 in 2021!
