Robert De Niro to lead Netflix political thriller limited series Zero Day

December 2, 2022 by Ricky Church

Screen legend Robert De Niro will be making his first venture into television in Zero Day, a political thriller limited series for Netflix from Eric Newman (The Watcher) and Noah Oppenheim (Jackie) according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The plot of Zero Day is being kept under wraps, but De Niro will play a former U.S. President in the thriller. Newman and Oppenheim will write the series from a story by them and Pulitzer Prize winner Michael Schmidt.

De Niro, Newman and Oppenheim will executive produce Zero Day alongside Panoramic Media’s Jonathan Glickman.

Newman has had a long relationship with Netflix which began when he wrote for Narcos and became showrunner on its spin-off Narcos: Mexico. His most recent series for Netflix was The Watcher, which was renewed for a second season this past month.
