Robert Downey Jr. named Hollywood’s highest-paid actor

July 17, 2013 by admin

Given that his last two films The Avengers and Iron Man 3 have pulled in a combined box-office gross just shy of $2.75 billion, it won’t come as much of a surprise to learn that Tony Stark himself Robert Downey Jr. has topped Forbes annual list of the highest-paid actors in Hollywood.

Thanks to the two blockbuster Marvel Studios hits, Downey pulled in a reported $75 million between June 2012 and June 2013 – and considering he still has his back-end deal for Iron Man 3 to come, not to mention The Avengers 2 starting early next year, you’d have to assume his position at the top of the pile is more than safe for 2014 too.

Running a not-so-close second to Robert Downey Jr. is Channing Tatum, who earned $60 million in the same period, thanks largely to the success of Magic Mike, which he also financed and produced alongside director Steven Soderbergh. X-Men veteran Hugh Jackman came third with $55 million, while last year’s highest-paid actor Tom Cruise slipped to eighth place with $35 million. Check out the full top ten here….

1. Robert Downey Jr. – $75 million
2. Channing Tatum – $60 million
3. Hugh Jackman – $55 million
4. Mark Wahlberg – $52 million
5. Dwayne Johnson – $46 million
6. Leonardo DiCaprio – $39 million
7. Adam Sandler – $37 million
8. Tom Cruise – $35 million
9. Denzel Washington – $33 million
10. Liam Neeson – $32 million
