Roman and Medieval Worlds teased for Westworld Season 2

October 5, 2017 by Jordan Jones

HBO’s Westworld was full of mystery, and it was that secrecy — and rampant fan theories —  that kept viewers hooked for the entire length of its first season last year. One of the most interesting reveals last season was the introduction of Samurai World. If you recall, towards the end of Season 1 we see chaos break out in the testing grounds of Westworld as Maeve tries to make her escape, and it’s in that moment that we get our first glimpse at Samurai “Hosts”. This simple reveal opened up the world of the show considerably, and left the potential for even more parks to be introduced. Those who have seen the films can tell you that there are several other parks: Medieval, Roman, and Future World.

Recently, Westworld creator Jonah Nolan hinted to fans that they may be getting a glimpse of Medieval and Roman World very soon. As reported by Deadline, when asked about these particular parks at the Vanity Fair summit, Nolan replied:

“We had to save something for season 2.”

His answer doesn’t really confirm that we will be seeing both parks in the upcoming season. Perhaps only one? Also, it would be a bit of a shortchange not to explore the concept of Samurai World before moving onto others; if we are going to see all of the parks at all. After all, the show is a very different beast from the 1973 film, and its sequel.

In a futuristic theme park staffed by artificial beings, guests can live out their wildest fantasies. However, when the robots begin to run amok, the guests find themselves in a world where anything can happen…

Westworld Season 2 will premiere in 2018.
