Rumour: David S. Goyer could end up directing Green Lantern Corps

March 18, 2017 by Gary Collinson

Back in January it was revealed that David S. Goyer (Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice) had signed on to produce Warner Bros.’ Green Lantern Corps, as well as co-writing the script with Justin Rhodes (Grassroots, Contract Killers).

Well, if Jeff Sneider on Meet the Movie Press is to be believed, Goyer “could very well wind up directing Green Lantern Corps himself.” The report follows Sneider’s claims that The Shallows director Jaume Collet-Serra is also in contention to direct another DC Films project, Suicide Squad 2.

In addition to his extensive comic book movie screenwriting experience, Goyer has directed Blade: Trinity, along with episodes of Da Vinci’s Demons and Flashforward.

Green Lantern Corps has been described as ‘Lethal Weapon in space’, and will focus on John Stewart’s Green Lantern training under Hal Jordan. It is slated for release in 2020, although there has been rumours that it is one of five films Warner Bros. is considering moving up following delays to The Batman.
