Rumour: Two directors said to be in contention for Justice League Dark

August 19, 2017 by Gary Collinson

As with The Flash (now titled Flashpoint), Warner Bros. are on the lookout for a third director on its upcoming supernatural DC ensemble Justice League Dark following the departures of Guillermo del Toro and Doug Liman.

Well, it Beyond the Trailer’s Grace Randolph is to be believed, the studio has now narrowed its choice to two contenders: Safe House and Life helmer Daniel Espinosa, and New Zealand filmmaker Gerard Johnstone, director of the 2014 horror-comedy Housebound.

Justice League Dark was featured as part of Warner’s DC Films slate at the San Diego Comic-Con International back in July, and is said to be viewed as a priority within the studio, so hopefully we’ll get official word on a director soon.

UPDATE: According to Variety’s Justin Kroll, Warner Bros. has went back to the drawing board and is once again working on the script after being underwhelmed by recent director pitches.
