Rumoured X-Men: Supernova synopsis suggests we’ll be revisiting the Dark Phoenix Saga

February 7, 2017 by Samuel Brace

The state of affairs with regards to the X-Men franchise is a little all over the place at the moment, but with the re-casting of old characters including that of Jean Grey (played by Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner), it look like it may be time to revisit the franchise’s classic Dark Phoenix Saga storyline once again.

Originally adapted as part of X-Men: The Last Stand and leaving many fans disappointed, it would seem there’s some feeling behind the scenes that there is some unfinished business regarding this iconic plot line. And, in a returning rumour, and according to a film listing on My Entertainment World, we will soon be going back to story of Jean Grey and The Dark Phoenix.

The synopsis is listed under the title X-Men: Supernova and reads thusly:

Gathered together by Professor Charles Xavier to protect a world that fears and hates them, the X-Men had fought many battles, been on adventures that spanned galaxies, grappled enemies of limitless might, but none of this could prepare them for the most shocking struggle they would ever face. One of their own members, Jean Grey, has gained power beyond all comprehension, and that power has corrupted her absolutely! Now they must decide if the life of the woman they cherish is worth the existence of the entire universe!

The site also lists a shoot date of June 15th 2017.

Now, of course this should all be taken with a nice pinch of salt; as yet, there’s been no official word on the next instalment of the main series, and it is currently without a director, or any confirmed cast members. Still, if it is accurate, are you excited about the prospect of revisiting the Dark Phoenix saga? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below…
