Rupert Sanders to direct live-action Ghost in the Shell movie

January 25, 2014 by admin

A live-action Hollywood version of Masamune Shirow’s acclaimed manga Ghost in the Shell has been in development at DreamWorks since 2008, when the studio acquired the rights at the behest of Steven Spielberg.

Since then, there’s been little real movement on the movie, but the adaptation now finally seems to be pushing ahead with Deadline revealing that director Rupert Sanders (Snow White and the Huntsman) has signed on to helm the project.

While screenwriters Jamie Moss (Street Kings) and Laeta Kalogridis (Terminator: Genesis) had both previously worked on the project, Sanders will instead utilise a new script from William Wheeler (Hoax, The Reluctant Fundamentalist) while Avi Arad (The Amazing Spider-Man 2) will serve as producer.
