The Russo Brothers to direct adaptation of The Gray Man

May 30, 2014 by Luke Owen

Hot off the success (both critically and financially) of Marvel’s Captain America: The Winter Solider, Anthony and Joe Russo have been linked to direct a big screen adaptation of Mark Greaney’s 2009 novel The Gray Man with Sony Pictures according to Variety. The book served as the first part of the Court Gentry trilogy of books so there is a chance that sequels could be in line for the directing duo too.

This is not the first time The Gray Man has been in-line for a big-screen adaptation over at Regency Pictures who held the movie rights before they went to Sony. James Gray (no pun intended we’re sure) was set to direct with Brad Pitt in the lead role.

Here’s the synopsis of the book:

Court Gentry is known as The Gray Man – a legend in the covert realm, moving silently from job to job, accomplishing the impossible, and then fading away. And he always hits his target. But there are forces more lethal than Gentry in the world. And in their eyes, Gentry has just outlived his usefulness.

Now, he is going to prove that for him, there’s no gray area between killing for a living-and killing to stay alive.

Anthony and Joe Russo are still attached to direct Captain America 3 which will be released on May 6th 2016.
