Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool reportedly confirmed for Avengers: Doomsday

August 18, 2025 by Gary Collinson

Despite assembling a cast that took the best part of a day to reveal, Marvel Studios teased that there’d be further casting news for Avengers: Doomsday, with some notable names currently absent from the roster of next year’s hotly-anticipated superhero epic.

Chief perhaps among the absentees were the titular heroes of last year’s R-rated box office smash Deadpool & Wolverine, and it seems we can now add one half of that combo as THR’s Heat Vision has followed up a social media teaser from Ryan Reynolds this week featuring a graffitied version of the Avengers logo by confirming that “yes, Deadpool will appear in Avengers: Doomsday [but] don’t expect him to actually be joining the Avengers team, though.”

Given the sheer number of characters involved with Doomsday – not to mention its PG-13 rating and the fact its already midway through production – Deadpool’s role in proceedings will presumably be fairly brief, if not little more than a cameo, although it will surely make for a fan-pleasing moment if and when we see the Merc with the Mouth interacting with Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.

Officially confirmed by Marvel to feature in the cast of Avengers: Doomsday are Robert Downey Jr. (Doctor Doom), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Vanessa Kirby (Sue Storm/Invisible Woman), Anthony Mackie (Sam Wilson/Captain America), Sebastian Stan (Bucky Barners/Winter Soldier), Letitia Wright (Shuri/Black Panther), Paul Rudd (Scott Lang/Ant-Man), Wyatt Russell (John Walker/US Agent), Tenoch Huerta Mejía (Namor), Ebon Moss-Bachrach (Ben Grimm/The Thing), Simu Liu (Shang-Chi), Florence Pugh (Yelena Belova), Kelsey Grammer (Hank McCoy/Beast), Lewis Pullman (Bob/Sentry), Danny Ramirez (Joaquin Torres/Falcon), Joseph Quinn (Johnny Storm/Human Torch), David Harbour (Alexei Shostakov/Red Guardian), Winston Duke (M’Baku), Hannah John-Kamen (Ava Starr/Ghost), Tom Hiddleston (Loki), Patrick Stewart (Charles Xavier/Professor X), Ian McKellen (Erik Lehnsherr/Magneto), Alan Cumming (Kurt Wagner/Nightcrawler), Rebecca Romijn (Raven Darkholme/Mystique), James Marsden (Scott Summers/Cyclops), Channing Tatum (Remy LeBeau/Gambit) and Pedro Pascal (Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic).

Avengers: Doomsday is set for release on December 17th 2027.
