Samuel L. Jackson joins John Cusack in Stephen King adaptation Cell

November 4, 2013 by admin

The long-gestating adaptation of Stephen King’s apocalyptic 2006 novel Cell appears to have moved a step closer to finally becoming a reality, with Deadline revealing that Samuel L. Jackson has signed on to star alongside his 1408 co-star John Cusack in the cast of the film.

According to Deadline, Jackson will play “Tom McCourt, an engineer and former soldier who with Cusack’s Clay Riddell character flees from Boston as the world turns mad thanks to the phones.”

For those unfamiliar with the novel, Cell tells the story of the fallout after a mysterious cellphone signal is broadcast across the globe, turning mobile users into zombie-like bloodthirsty killers. The script for the film has been written by King and Adam Alleca (Last House of the Left), with Tod “Kip” Williams (Paranormal Activity 2) set to direct.
