Samuel L. Jackson to lead Tulsa King spin-off NOLA King

June 6, 2025 by Ricky Church

Taylor Sheridan’s TV empire is about to grow again as he has attached iconic actor Samuel L. Jackson to NOLA King, a spin-off from the Sylvester Stallone-led Tulsa King.

The plan will begin in the third season of Tulsa King which Jackson is said to star in multiple episodes as his character Russell Lee Washington Jr., another figure from the criminal underworld, who will butt heads with Stallone’s Dwight Manfredi. After his encounters with Dwight, he will move to New Orleans and attempt to assert his control in the city in NOLA King.

Tulsa King is currently filming its third season and Jackson will film his episodes in July. Following that, NOLA King will begin production in February 2026 with Tulsa‘s season 3 and Mayor of Kingstown showrunner Dave Erikson writing, showrunning and executive producing the Jackson-led series. Sheridan and 101 Studios’ David C. Glasser will also serve as executive producers.

This will mark Jackson’s latest foray into TV. He has previously been a guest star on Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. reprising his MCU role as Nick Fury before leading the Disney+ miniseries Secret Invasion. He most recently starred in Peacock’s series Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist. Jackson has one of the most extensive resumes in the industry, appearing in hundreds of films throughout his career that include Pulp Fiction, the Star Wars prequels, Unbreakable, Kingsman, Die Hard with a Vengeance, several Marvel Studios films and more.

“Dwight (Sylvester Stallone) and his crew continue to build up and defend their growing empire in Tulsa, but just as they get their bearings, they realize that they’re not the only ones who want to stake their claim. With looming threats from the Kansas City mob and a very powerful local businessman, Dwight struggles to keep his family and crew safe while keeping track of all his affairs. Plus, he still has unfinished business back in New York.”

Tulsa King stars Sylvester Stallone, Martin Starr, Jay Will, Max Casella, Vincent Piazza, Tatiana Zappardino, Annabella Sciorra, Neal McDonough, Frank Grillo, Domenick Lombardozzi, Andrea Savage, Garrett Hedlund, and Dana Delany.
