Sci-fi action adventure Star Overdrive coming to Switch this April

February 6, 2025 by Andrew Newton

Caracal Games and publisher Dear Villagers have announced that their highly anticipated sci-fi open-world action-adventure, Star Overdrive, will be arriving on the Nintendo Switch on 10th April.  Gamers who want to pre-order their journey to an alien world can do so now and receive a special DLC and get a 10% discount.  Watch the new trailer below to see more of this exotic alien planet…

On a large alien world filled with a range of diverse biomes a mysterious distress signal beeps away.  Star Overdrive takes players to that world and challenges them with the task of discovering who or what is behind that signal.  With the help of a stylish hoverboard and a powerful Keytar, players will race across the planet, discover colourful environments, reveal hidden secrets and defeat dangerous enemies.

Using their hoverboards, players will speed across vast landscapes and perform a variety of tricks that can also give the edge in battle against the local fauna. Players will be able to combine powers to bend the laws of physics and defeat enemies and also solve puzzles.

Featuring:

  • Use a Hoverboard to speed across the planet, perform tricks, solve puzzles and defeat enemies.
  • Journey through four uniquely distinct biomes, each filled with secrets to uncover and challenges to conquer.
  • Battle against creatures of different sizes, from small nuisances to towering bosses. Each requiring skill and tactics to defeat.

Pre-orders for Star Overdrive will come with the Star Overdrive Pre-Order DLC,which features plenty of customisation options for the Hoverboard – including 6 different styles, 2 designs and 50 dyes.  Don’t forget, there’s also a 10% pre-order discount.

There will also be a Deluxe Edition of the game released, this includes the full game, 3 styles, 1 design and 50 dyes for the Hoverboard, a digital copy of the game’s soundtrack and digital comic written and drawn by the Caracal Games team showing a prequel chapter to the game’s story.

Look out for Star Overdrive arriving on Nintendo Switch on 10th April.
