Sci-fi multiplayer FPS Splitgate: Arena Warfare launches for free on Steam later this month

May 6, 2019 by Andrew Newton

1047 Games will be bringing their fast paced, sci-fi, competitive multiplayer FPS to Steam for FREE on 22nd May.  In this new FPS players will be able to use portals to create a whole new dimension to arena combat.  A new trailer has been released to accompany the announcement showcasing some of the arenas that players will battle it out over.

Splitgate: Arena Warfare is an easy to learn but difficult to master FPS designed to be equally accessible to first time and veteran gamers.  The game combines classic close-quarters combat with a world bending portal mechanic so that players can create gateways around the arena.  Along with jetpack boosts, strategic flanking and ambushes, Splitgate: Arena Warfare is not a run of the mill FPS and will reward constant movement.

Players will each start the battle with the exact same loadout but more powerful weapons will spawn on a timer at various points on the map.  These weapons can then be used to achieve some extreme killstreaks.

“As Splitgate evolved, we realized that players would be best served with a free-to-play model. We want to ensure that everyone who wants to play has the opportunity to do so,” said Ian Proulx, CEO and co-founder of 1047 Games. “Rest assured this will not detract from its hyper-competitive design – all items for sale in the game are purely cosmetic.”

Splitgate: Arena Warfare will be available to download for free from Steam on 22nd May.
