Scott Pilgrim to return in new video game Scott Pilgrim EX

June 7, 2025 by Ricky Church

Scott Pilgrim is making another comeback, only this time it is back on video game consoles with Tribute Games’ Scott Pilgrim EX. Watch the gameplay trailer below…

Scott Pilgrim EX sees Toronto taken over by three rival gangs and it is up to Scott Pilgrim and Ramona Flowers to save their friends and the city. The game is being developed by Tribute, who recently made the side-scrolling throwback Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge, alongside Scott Pilgrim creator Bryan Lee O’Malley, artist Paul Robertson, Scott Pilgrim Takes Off director BenDavid Grabinski and band Anamanaguchi, who previously composed music for the Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World video game and the Scott Pilgrim Takes Off series.

The game will allow players to control seven characters from Scott Pilgrim with unique moves and combos as well as letting them explore Toronto through non-linear levels. It will be released in 2026 for the Playstation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch and PC.

Scott Pilgrim has been a cult favourite for 20 years, celebrating its anniversary milestone last year. O’Malley wrote and drew his six-volume series from 2004 – 2010 with the live-action adaptation starring Michael Cera and Mary Elizabeth Winstead from director Edgar Wright releasing not long after the series’ completion. Ubisoft developed the first video game Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World which quickly became a fan-favourite due to its side-scrolling gameplay as well as Anamanaguchi’s soundtrack. A follow up anime series Scott Pilgrim Takes Off was released on Netflix in 2023 with the film’s full cast reprising their roles. The cast also did a full virtual table read reunion to celebrate the film’s 10th anniversary.
