Screenwriter thinks Deadpool 3 will be released “under the Fox banner” to keep it R-rated

January 30, 2020 by Samuel Brace

Rhett Reese, writer for the Deadpool franchise, has suggested a way that Deadpool 3 could be R-rated by Disney.

With Disney now owning the Deadpool franchise, many expect that any future films would stray away from being R-rated as with the past two movies. But writer for the franchise Rhett Reese thinks it could still happen as he believes the third movie will be released “under the Fox banner” – a.k.a. 20th Century Studios – rather than Disney itself.

Speaking to Screen Rant, the writer suggested the following as a possible solution: “Absolutely, because I don’t think it’ll be under the Disney banner. Like, I don’t think when you go to Deadpool 3, there’s going to be a Magic Castle that appears. I think it’s going to be under the Fox banner, so yes.”

This solution certainly makes sense. There’s no reason why Disney has to put their name in front of the film and if that helps them make peace with the R-rating, then perhaps it’s the way to go!
