It’s a well-known fact that Bradley Cooper voices Rocket Raccoon in both 2014’s Guardians of the Galaxy and next year’s sequel, but fewer are aware that it actually takes two actors to bring the foul-mouthed raccoon to life. Director James Gunn’s brother, Sean Gunn, wears a green suit to provide the motion capture for Rocket and is actually what the other Guardians are acting off when they interact with Rocket in a scene.
Recently, ComicBook sat down with Sean Gunn at Heroes and Villians Fan Fest in Atlanta, Georgia and asked him about the role Rocket will play in the sequel. Gunn, expressing excitement, said, “Oh yeah! Rocket has a lot of great stuff to do in this movie. There are a few relationships that are central to the theme of the movie and that really go towards keeping a family…and Rocket has the same sort of crisis of faith about whether or not he belongs in this family.”
In the sequel, Gunn will also be reprising his role as Kraglin, a member of the Ravagers and Michael Rooker’s Yondu’s right-hand man. Apparently, he will even have a bigger part in the film, as opposed to the first Guardians where he was on-screen for only a few minutes.

Set to the backdrop of ‘Awesome Mixtape #2,’ Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 continues the team’s adventures as they traverse the outer reaches of the cosmos. The Guardians must fight to keep their newfound family together as they unravel the mysteries of Peter Quill’s true parentage. Old foes become new allies and fan-favorite characters from the classic comics will come to our heroes’ aid as the Marvel cinematic universe continues to expand.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is scheduled for release on April 28th 2017 in the UK and on May 5th in the States, with director James Gunn reuniting with returning cast members Chris Pratt (Star-Lord), Zoe Saldana (Gamora), Dave Bautista (Drax), Bradley Cooper (Rocket), Vin Diesel (Groot), Karen Gillan (Nebula), Michael Rooker (Yondu), Glenn Close (Nova Prime) and Sean Gunn (Kraglin) alongside new additions Pom Klementieff (Oldboy) as Mantis, Elizabeth Debicki (The Man from U.N.C.L.E.) as Ayesha, Kurt Russell (The Hateful Eight) as Ego the Living Planet, Chris Sullivan (The Drop) as Taserface and Sylvester Stallone (Creed) in as yet-unrevealed role.
