Seth Rogen-produced Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie titled Mutant Mayhem

August 6, 2022 by EJ Moreno

Seth Rogen enters the world of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and we’ve learned the film’s release date and official title. Hitting cinemas on August 5th, 2022, the CG-animated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem will offer up more accurate comic book vibes and looks to delight fans with a fresh take on the iconic characters.

Gravity Falls‘ Jeff Rowe directs from a screenplay by Brendan O’Brien (Neighbors: Sorority Rising). Seth Rogen will produce alongside Evan Goldberg and James Weaver.

In previous reports, the film’s tone was akin to a coming-of-age story. Think Stand By Me, but with crime-fighting mutated turtles. Since the filmmakers are going for that younger tone, the production will have real teenagers cast in the voices of Leonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello, and Raphael.

The world of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is hotter than ever, with this new film coming alongside an announced series of films following the franchise’s villains – though Nickelodeon does state these are not connected to Rogen’s movies and are just the further expansion of the TMNT brand. Just today, reviews for Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Movie, a new film based on the 2018 series, dropped and came with some serious praise.
