Shazam director confirms April 2019 release date

October 23, 2017 by Gary Collinson

Over the past couple of years, Warner Bros. has developed a bit of a habit of shuffling its DC Films release dates, with several movies that were part of its initial slate announcement shifting dates, or in some cases, finding themselves stuck in development hell.

Well, one movie that does seem to be on track is Billy Batson’s big screen debut Shazam, with director David F. Sandberg (Annabelle: Creation) revealing during a Reddit Q&A that the movie is targeting Warner’s April 2019 slot.

The film is in pre-production now, and is reportedly set to begin principal photography in February 2018. As yet, there’s been no word on casting, but we should probably expect things to come together very quickly over the next month or two.

Shazam will hit cinemas on April 5th 2019, with Wonder Woman 2 following later in the year on December 13th 2019.
