Showtime president gives an update on Twin Peaks

January 14, 2016 by Gary Collinson

During the Television Critics Association winter press tour, Showtime president David Nevins has given a brief update on the upcoming Twin Peaks revival.

“I’m excited to tell you that David Lynch is now more than halfway through his shooting schedule, and the limited series will premiere in the first half of 2017,” said Nevins.

He also went on to reveal that he’d seen about 25 minutes of edited footage, which he called “stupendous”. As for details on who we can expect to see appearing in the series, he added that “I would not hold my breath for an announcement on the casting.”

Although Showtime is giving nothing away cast-wise, it was revealed last week that Sherilyn Fenn (Audrey Horne) will be back alongside Kyle MacLachlan (Agent Dale Cooper), while Blue Velvet’s Laura Dern also signed on to appear alongside other series newcomers such as Jennifer Jason Leigh, Robert Knepper, Balthazar Getty and Amanda Seyfried. Other stars from the original series expected to return include Sheryl Lee (Laura Palmer), David Patrick Kelly (Jerry Horne), Richard Beymer (Ben Horne), Miguel Ferrer (Albert Rosenfield) and Dana Ashbrook (Bobby Briggs).
