Sigourney Weaver hopes for a role in the Ghostbusters reboot; calls the all-female cast “awesome”

March 9, 2015 by Luke Owen

With all of the hullabaloo over Neill Blomkamp’s Alien 5, Sigourney Weaver has had the majority of her Chappie interview questions surrounding her return to the role of Ripley. But someone did take the time to ask about her thoughts on Paul Feig’s all-female Ghostbusters reboot.

“I think that’s awesome,” she told Screenrant. “I think it’s great. I think it’s going to be fantastic. I can’t wait to see it.”

We’ve already heard praise from original stars Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd, as well as Ernie Hudson after initially hating the idea. Another rumour coming out of the reboot was that Murray was being tapped to play the film’s villain, but nothing is confirmed as of yet. But would Sigourney Weaver like a part?

“They might have us pop up as marshmallow men or something and then destroy us. I don’t know. I hope they will think of some silly way for us to be in it. Maybe I could play that ancient librarian who goes [makes noise].”

Check out the interview below:

Ghostbusters is set for release on July 22nd, 2016 and features a cast that includes Kristen Wiig (Bridesmaids), Melissa McCarthy (The Heat), Leslie Jones (We Are Family) and Kate McKinnon (Saturday Night Live).
