Simon Pegg is not playing Ant-Man

August 16, 2013 by admin

One of the problems that can be attributed to stars posting pictures of themselves on Twitter is that the Internet can often mistake that for an indication they’re involved in a movie somehow.

Yesterday, Simon Pegg posted an image of himself pointing to a picture of Ant-Man (directed by long-time collaborator and friend Edgar Wright) with the caption “fun at Marvel”. This led to a lot of Internet speculation that The World’s End star would be taking centre stage as Hank Pym for the 2015 movie.

A few weeks back, Fast and Furious star Vin Diesel did the same thing which led to the announcement of him voicing Groot in James Gunn’s upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy. However, this time the story is not the same. Turns out Pegg was just having fun at Marvel.
He later tweeted, “FFS the Internet. All I did was point at the central character in my dear friend’s next movie, because I’m excited for him.”

Well, that’s told you lot.

It should be noted that Pegg wasn’t interested in “punking” the Internet with his photo as he also posted one with The Hulk as well as him holding Thor’s hammer.

Ant-Man is set for release on November 8th 2015 and has been co-written by Wright and Attack the Block director Joe Cornish. No casting has been announced yet. The movie will kick-start Marvel’s Phase Three which is also rumoured to include Doctor Strange and Black Panther and will eventually lead to The Avengers 3.
