Sony’s The Man from Toronto moves to Netflix

April 15, 2022 by Ricky Church

The Man from Toronto is moving homes as Deadline reports that the action-comedy starring Kevin Hart and Woody Harrelson has been bought by Netflix as a part of the streamer’s first-look deal with Sony.

The Man from Toronto begins when the world’s deadliest assassin (Harrelson) and New York’s biggest screw-up, Teddy (Hart), are mistaken for one another at an Airbnb rental and find themselves forced into teaming up as they try to evade a group of assassins out to kill them.

The film is directed by Patrick Hughes (The Hitman’s Bodyguard) from a script by Robbie Fox (So I Married An Axe Murderer) and Chris Bremner (Bad Boys for Life). It was previously scheduled for an August 12th release in theatres, but will now premiere exclusively on Netflix worldwide with the exception of China, where Sony retains all rights for any of their films. Sony will also retains rights for home media releases.

The Man from Toronto sees Hart and Harrelson joined by Kaley Cuoco (The Flight Attendant), Jasmine Mathews (The Tomorrow War), Ellen Barkin (Animal Kingdom), Lela Loren (Power), Pierson Fode (Reboot Camp) and Jencarlos Canela (The Expanding Universe of Ashley Garcia).

The Man from Toronto will premiere on Netflix later this year.
