Space Adventure Cobra – The Awakening gets a new gameplay trailer

July 15, 2025 by Andrew Newton

Microids has released a new gameplay trailer for Space Adventure Cobra – The Awakening (see below), their video game adaptation of the iconic 1982 anime and manga created by Buichi Terasawa. In addition to the new trailer, there are now playable demos available on Steam, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and Nintendo Switch, giving players the chance to jump into Cobra’s shoes ahead of the game’s launch on 26th August…

In Space Adventure Cobra – The Awakening, players take the role of Cobra, a brave adventurer with a cybernetic left arm housing the legendary Psychogun. Players will be able to experience the first 12 episodes of the famous anime and cross paths with colourful characters, such as the Royal Sisters and the terrifying Crystal Bowie.

There’s a wealth of exotic planets to visit, all with traps and enemy troops that will have Cobra running, jumping and climbing through the levels. Players will be able to use Cobra’s superhuman abilities, the awesome Psychogun and the Colt Python 77 to take out his enemies, and also make use of famous gadgets like the cigar and the grappling hook.

The game features a story mode with 3 difficulty levels, giving players a chance to test their skills or simply enjoy a more leisurely adventure. There’s also a 2-player co-op mode for those who want to bring their friends along for the fun.

Fans will be able to purchase a physical limited edition, featuring the full game, an artbook, the bonus mission “The Roulette of Death” and the exclusive “Smoking Skin.” There will also be a digital Gold Edition for consoles that includes the full game, the bonus mission and the “Smoking Skin”. A Deluxe Edition will be available on Steam and includes the contents of the Gold Edition, plus a digital artbook and original soundtrack.

Look out for Space Adventure Cobra – The Awakening arriving on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam on 26th August.
