Spider-Man: Far From Home passes the billion dollar mark at the global box office

July 25, 2019 by Amie Cranswick

Last week it became the highest-grossing Spider-Man movie, and now Spider-Man: Far From Home has gone another step further, becoming the web-slinger’s first solo outing to break the billion dollar mark at the global box office.

As reported by Deadline, Far From Home has amassed a worldwide haul of $1.005 billion through Thursday, with $333 million from North America and $672 million from international markets.

The Spider-Man sequel has surpassed the $963 million haul of Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle to become Sony’s second highest-grossing film ever behind Skyfall ($1.109 billion), and looks all but assured of taking the top spot by the end of its run.

Far From Home is the ninth MCU movie to reach $1 billion globally, and the third to do so this year alone after Captain Marvel and Avengers: Endgame.

Peter Parker returns in Spider-Man: Far From Home, the next chapter of the Spider-Man: Homecoming series! Our friendly neighborhood Super Hero decides to join his best friends Ned, MJ, and the rest of the gang on a European vacation. However, Peter’s plan to leave super heroics behind for a few weeks are quickly scrapped when he begrudgingly agrees to help Nick Fury uncover the mystery of several elemental creature attacks, creating havoc across the continent!

Spider-Man: Far From Home features the return of Tom Holland (Spider-Man), Marisa Tomei (Aunt May), Zendaya (Michelle), Jacob Batalon (Ned Leeds), Angourie Rice (Betty Brant), Tony Revolori (Flash Thompson), Martin Star (Mr. Harrington), Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury) and Cobie Smulders (Maria Hill), with Jake Gyllenhaal (Nightcrawler) as Mysterio.
