Spider-Man spinoff Morbius, the Living Vampire casts Matt Smith in a major role

January 25, 2019 by Gary Collinson

Former Doctor Who star Matt Smith has signed on to star in Sony Pictures’ latest Spider-Man spinoff movie, Morbius, the Living Vampire.

Details on Smith’s character are being kept under wraps, but Variety reports that it is a major role. Smith joins a cast that includes Jared Leto (Suicide Squad) in the title role as Dr. Michael Morbius, with Adria Arjona (Pacific Rim Uprising) portraying the female lead Martine Bancroft.

If you’re unfamiliar with the character, Morbius is a scientist who tries to cure his fatal blood disease by creating a serum, only for this to turn him into a blood-thirsty vampire.
