Spiral: From the Book of Saw delayed to 2021

May 2, 2020 by EJ Moreno

Darren Lynn Bousman’s return to the Saw franchise won’t see a theatrical release for another year as Lionsgate has delayed Spiral: From the Book of Saw until May 21st, 2021.

The official Twitter account for the franchise confirmed its new release date and gave fans a special message:

The news follows immediately on from a delay to another of Lionsgate’s upcoming horrors Antebellum, although the wait for that is much shorter with the Janelle Monae-headlined film now set to arrive on August 21st of this year.

A sadistic mastermind unleashes a twisted form of justice in SPIRAL, the terrifying new chapter from the book of SAW. Working in the shadow of an esteemed police veteran (Samuel L. Jackson), brash Detective Ezekiel “Zeke” Banks (Chris Rock) and his rookie partner (Max Minghella) take charge of a grisly investigation into murders that are eerily reminiscent of the city’s gruesome past. Unwittingly entrapped in a deepening mystery, Zeke finds himself at the center of the killer’s morbid game.

Spiral: From the Book of Saw stars Chris Rock, Samuel L. Jackson, Max Minghella, and Marisol Nichols, with Darren Lynn Bousman returning to the world of Jigsaw for the ninth installment having previously directed Saw II, Saw III, and Saw IV. It is set for release on May 21st, 2021.
