Star Wars heading back to Tatooine for Episode VII

April 9, 2014 by Gary Collinson

This won’t come as much of a surprise seeing as it’s featured in five of the previous six movies, but it seems we’ll be heading back to the desert world of Tatooine when we return to a galaxy far, far away for Star Wars: Episode VII.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, “director J.J. Abrams and Disney are planning to build out an extensive re-creation of Tatooine, the desolate home planet of Luke and Anakin Skywalker, in a Morocco-like environment (the original was built in Tunisia).

This is the second potential location we’ve heard about after rumours of a return to Hoth, and out of the two this one makes the most sense. And of course, best of all it also opens the door for the return of Watto…

Star Wars: Episode VII is set for release on December 18th 2015, with the likes of Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker), Harrison Ford (Han Solo), Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia) and Peter Mayhew rumoured to be returning alongside Girls star Adam Driver as the new villain.
