Star Wars: The Force Awakens gets belated Critics’ Choice Award nomination for Best Picture

December 22, 2015 by Gary Collinson

Originally published December 22, 2015. Updated April 14, 2018.

The Broadcast Film Critics Association has announced that it has belatedly added Star Wars: The Force Awakens to the list of nominees for Best Picture at the 2016 Critics’ Choice Awards.

The decision was made after a poll of members yesterday, asking whether the film – which was not screened to members prior to the official nomination announcements – should be added to the Best Picture contenders.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens will contest the Best Picture Award against The Big Short, Bridge of Spies, Brooklyn, Carol, Mad Max: Fury Road, The Martian, The Revenant, Room, Sicario and Spotlight.

You can see a full list of all the Critics’ Choice Award nominations here.
