Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker comic book writer discusses expanding the film’s story

Jody Houser, the author of the upcoming Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker comic book, has discussed expanding the film’s story in the Marvel Comics adaptation.

The Rise of Skywalker certainly packed a lot into its running time, never letting up the pace as it finished off the Skywalker Saga. The film naturally left fans wanting more and to see certain scenes extended.

Well, the upcoming comic book adaptation will provide such an opportunity and author Jody Houser is excited by the process of adding to the movie’s story. Speaking to StarWars.com, she said:

“I think one of the great things about adaptations in other mediums is you do get the chance to build out elements of the story there may not have been time or a place for on the screen. Giving light to new scenes gives the creators in these other mediums a chance to add to the story, rather than just translating it for the page.”

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker sees J.J. Abrams (Star Wars: The Force Awakens) directing a cast that includes Star Wars veterans Daisy Ridley (Rey), Adam Driver (Kylo Ren), John Boyega (Finn), Oscar Isaac (Poe Dameron), Lupita Nyong’o (Maz Kanata), Domhnall Gleeson (General Hux), Kelly Marie Tran (Rose Tico), Joonas Suotamo (Chewbacca), Billie Lourd (Lieutenant Connix), Greg Grunberg (Snap Wexley), Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker), Anthony Daniels (C-3PO), Billy Dee Williams (Lando Calrissian), Ian McDiarmid (Emperor Palpatine) and Carrie Fisher (Leia Organa) as well as new additions Naomi Ackie (Lady Macbeth), Richard E. Grant (Logan), Dominic Monaghan (Lost), and Keri Russell (The Americans).
