J.J. Abrams, the director of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker says the film will introduce new force powers.
A big part of the excitement of watching a new Star Wars film is getting to see what cool things the Jedi will get up to and this often involves there use of the force. We all know about force push and force lightning but could there be anything new in The Rise of Skywalker?
Well, according to director J.J. Abrams, the answer is yes. Speaking to Vanity Fair the director revealed new force powers will be seen and explained why: “It was really important that we not just redo the things you’ve seen, but add new elements—which we knew will infuriate some people and thrill others.”

Luke’s memorable use of the force at the end of The Last Jedi, projecting himself across the galaxy, certainly surprised many but will Episode IX have anything that can top it? We will have to wait and see.
