Stephen King adaptation The Stand adds three more to its cast

October 13, 2019 by Gary Collinson

Katherine McNamara (Arrow), Eion Bailey (ER) and Hamish Linklater (Legion) have become the latest additions to the ever-expanding cast of CBS All Access’ limited series adaptation of Stephen King’s apocalyptic epic The Stand.

As reported by Variety, McNamara has been cast as Julie Lawry, “a small-town girl with a wild side”, with Bailey as Teddy Weizak, “a superflu survivor and member of the body crew” and Linklater as Dr. Ellis, “a military colonel and infectious disease specialist who dreams of being the hero who stops the superflu.”

The new additions join the previously announced James Marsden (Westworld) as Stu Redman, Amber Heard (Aquaman) as Nadine Cross, Odessa Young (Assassination Nation) as Frannie Goldsmith, and Henry Zaga (13 Reasons Why) as Nick Andros, Jovan Adepo (Overlord) as Larry Underwood, Owen Teague (Black Mirror) as Harold Lauder, Brad William Henke (Orange Is the New Black) as Tom Cullen, Daniel Sunjata (Rescue Me) as Cobb, Whoopi Goldberg (Sister Act) as Mother Abagail, Nat Wolff (The Fault in Our Stars) as Lloyd Henreid and Alexander Skarsgard (Big Little Lies) as Randall Flagg.

The Fault in Our Stars’ Josh Boone is writing, directing and executive producing The Stand, while Stephen King has also scripted the tenth and final episode, which will include a new coda not present in the book. The series will air CBS All Access, although a premiere date is yet to be revealed.
