Steve Guttenberg hints at a new assignment for Police Academy

September 5, 2018 by Matt Rodgers

Steve Guttenberg’s last outing with the Police Academy franchise was way back in 1987 with Police Academy 4: Citizens on Patrol.  The final instalment for the ramshackle collection of police officers was part 7’s Mission to Moscow in 1994. Now it appears that not only will the hugely popular series return, but if you’re to believe the Twitter account of Guttenberg, Officer Carey Mahoney himself might re-join the force.

Adam , the next Police Academy is coming, no details yet, but it is in a gift bag being readied! https://t.co/HxzdmqS6WP

— Steve Guttenberg (@SteveGuttbuck) September 3, 2018

Starring Steve Guttenberg, Kim Cattrall, Bubba Smith, Michael Winslow, George Gaynes, Leslie Easterbrook, Marion Ramsey, David Graf, and Bobcat Goldthwaite, the Police Academy franchise has grossed $240 million worldwide and even spawned an animated television series which ran for 2 seasons in 1988.

Guttenberg was responding positively to a Twitter user who was asking whether we’d get another sequel, this time set in London. He didn’t reveal any details, but does the prospect of yet another Police Academy appeal to you, in the style of something like 21 Jump Street, or was the franchise a product of its time? Let us know whether you’d enrol for mission number 8 in the comments section.
